Looking for a last-minute Halloween costume? These shirts are so easy to make using HTV! Just cut these free Halloween SVG files using your Cricut and apply with a heat press. These easy Halloween costume shirts can be made in less than 15 minutes!

All three halloween t-shirts

Halloween is around the corner and if you’re panicking to make a last-minute costume for your kids (or yourself!), I’ve got you covered! In today’s tutorial, we’re making three EASY costumes using simple BELLA+CANVAS t-shirts and your Cricut or other cutting machine.

These Halloween costume shirts are perfect if you don’t have a lot of time or money to spend on creating an outrageous Halloween costume. You can pair these cute shirts with a colorful tutu, sweat pants, or even jeans. They are also great for being comfortable if your child has an all-day Halloween school event or you want to make your own tee to wear to work.

Did you know you can buy BELLA+CANVAS garments at wholesale pricing without a reseller license? Get a BELLA+CANVAS Maker’s Account! This account allows you access to the wholesale side of their business without the need for any permits or licenses. Even better? It’s free! Learn more in my post Buying Wholesale Blanks without a Resale License!

Costume shirts like these are also great for kids and adults with sensory issues. Instead of a big bulky costume that doesn’t breathe, a BELLA+CANVAS tee is easy for someone who needs something soft and comfortable. Plus BELLA+CANVAS tees come in a huge variety of colors, so you can really make these designs your own! Here’s an example of just the kids’ tee colors:

We’re going to be making a jack-o-lantern, an emoji, and a skeleton shirt and you can grab the free SVG below! All of these are so easy to make and you can use a variety of colors for both your shirts and HTV. If it’s cold where you are, these designs also work on a pullover fleece sweatshirt!

And then for this project, I’m using a few variations of B-Flex HTV. This HTV is low temp and low time, so it’s really easy to use and it’s fast! It also has a really nice feel and washes well. You can, however, use whatever type of HTV you’d like, in whatever colors you’d like! Make it fun!

Supplies

Set up the File in Cricut Design Space

I’m using Cricut Design Space because I am using my Cricut, but the process should be similar in other cutting machine software.

Start by uploading the file you downloaded from my craft library. I am making all three shirts, but if you are making just one, you can delete or hide the images you aren’t using.

Cricut Design Space: file uploaded

Measure your shirt so you can determine the right size for your project.

hands measuring shirt for transfer size

Resize your images. I also re-colored my skeleton so that it wouldn’t cut on the same mat as the eyes for my emoji.

Cricut Design Space: images resized

That’s it! Hit Make in the upper right. In the Load screen, choose On Mat (unless you are using Smart HTV).

Cricut Design Space: load screen with "on mat" selected

Because we are using HTV you’ll want to mirror each layer in the Prepare screen. This is so that your images aren’t backwards (not as important with these particular designs, but very important for designs with text).

Cricut Design Space: preview screen showing each layer is mirrored

Click Continue and select your material. I used the Everyday Iron On setting for the black smooth glitter and the regular HTV, and the Holographic Iron On setting for my holographic glam HTV.

Cutting Your HTV

Next it’s time to cut our HTV! I like using a brayer to help adhere the HTV to the mat. Each of these is cut with the shiny carrier sheet down. You can learn more in my post How to Use HTV.

Insert your mat into your Cricut and your Cricut will cut your HTV!

Weeding Your HTV

The next step is to remove all of the excess HTV we don’t need in our images. To do this, use a weeding hook to pull up that excess HTV. These are pretty easy images to weed, but if you need help, I have a post called Weeding Iron On Vinyl that offers tips and tricks for making it easy.

Making Your Halloween Costume Shirts

All we have left to do is apply our HTV to our shirts!

Start by pre-pressing your shirts for 10-15 seconds. This removes any moisture and gives you a nice flat pressing surface.

Then add your design to your shirt. The jack-o-lantern and skeleton are single layers, so they are very simple.

The emoji is two layers, so I added both of them, with the black mouth piece on the bottom, so I could get an idea of the layout for my design. Then I carefully peeled off the pink layer, leaving the black layer in the exact spot I wanted it.

Then press your project! Make sure you are pressing according to the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific HTV.

Then peel back the carrier sheet! Your instructions should say whether or not you should peel it back while it’s warm or cool. If you’re having trouble getting your HTV to stick properly, check out my post Tips to Get HTV Stick and Last Longer.

For the emoji, you’ll need to add your second layer and press again, peeling back the carrier sheet when you’re done.

And…that’s it! Your Halloween costume shirts are done!

I love these Halloween shirts and they are so easy to make! Plus you an do a ton of variations — simple white HTV for a regular skeleton, any number of colors for your jack-o-lantern shirt, etc. The wide variety of BELLA+CANVAS tees and HTV mean you can endlessly customize this easy Halloween Cricut project!

These Retro Halloween SVGs are too cute to spook! Use the Halloween cut files to create shirts, treat bags for candy, drinkware, and more for your boo crew!

Wicked Cute Halloween SVG image

Halloween is just around the corner!

I enjoy Halloween, but honestly, I’m not a fan of anything scary. I prefer Hocus Pocus and pastel-colored decor over traditional scary Halloween vibes.

Walking into any craft/home decor store, there’s so many more whimsical decor options available. A few years ago, that wasn’t the case! If I wanted pink Halloween decor, I had to make it! While I love seeing more and more of it, there’s still something special about being able to say “I made this.”

That’s exactly why I designed these Retro Halloween SVGs! You can use my color palette or swap in more traditional Halloween colors, if that’s your thing. The possibilities are endless!

Use the Wicked Cute SVG to create matching t-shirts or onesies for your boo crew! Grab your favorite colors of heat transfer vinyl or sublimation printer and design your own. If your little one’s school participates in a fall festival, this is a great way to show Halloween spirit without a costume!

Speaking of little ones… the Candy Crew SVG would be perfect for matching trick or treat tote bags. Grab a canvas tote bag or even a pillowcase and add an iron-on decal! If your kiddo prefers the plastic candy buckets, you can use Cricut’s print then cut feature to make a sticker decal! Check out the Ultimate Guide to Print Then Cut if you’d like to learn more about making stickers with your Cricut!

If you’re looking to add some not-so -spooky decor to your home, the Spooky Season cut file makes the perfect wooden sign or even pillow cover! Again, you can use mor traditional colors if you’d like. Pastels are fun, too!

Do you boo your neighbors? Boo bags aren’t just for kids, you know! Use permanent vinyl to make a wine glass or tumbler for a friend/neighbor as part of a “boo-zed” bag! Personalized wine glasses would make a fun addition to a Halloween party, as well!

I hope you enjoy these Retro Halloween SVGs. I can’t wait to hear what you create with them. Let me know in the comments below!

With fall just around the corner, it’s time to begin planning for Halloween! Use this free flying bats SVG and your cutting machine to create spooky mugs, pocket tees, home decor, and more!

flying bats SVG image

Fun fact: we have bats that live under our house! Our house is built on the side of the mountain, and below the upper deck we have a handful of bats. I don’t mind them much—they don’t come out when I’m up and they eat the mosquitos. Win!

I also love adding them to my Halloween decor. They’re a fun way to add just a touch of spooky without being too spooky! This simple, yet fun flying bats SVG can be added to all sorts of items during the Halloween season.

You can make this flying bat clear glass sublimation can with permanent vinyl and your Cricut or Silhouette machine. If you have a sublimation printer, you can also add this design to a sublimation-ready glass or tumbler. I recently shared how I used my PYD Life Tumbler Press to Make Glass Sublimation Tumblers and Mugs!

This bat design would be really cute on a pocket tee! Cut the bats out of iron on vinyl and iron them on just above the pocket! They’ll look like they’re flying out of it! You aren’t limited to just black, either. I personally prefer pastel spooky vibes, and would make myself ones with a light pink and orange HTV.

If paper crafting is up your alley, then use this flying bats SVG to cut the bats out of cardstock and attach to various areas of your home. They look really fun on doors, above a mantel, or even on mirrors! It’s an easy project that adds a bit of Halloween fun to your home.

This flying bats SVG cut file is part of our Totally Free SVG hop! I’ve teamed up with some of my fellow crafters to bring you a mix of instant download files. This month’s free cut files theme features bat design elements!

Angie is one of my absolute best blogging friends and we’ve been trying to figure out how to do more collaborations since we really do enjoy working with each other so much—and we know there’s a lot of crossover between our audiences!

So today we’ve teamed up to share how to make the cutest DIY trick-or-treat bags! Of course we’re using our Cricut machines, since that’s such a big part of both of our blogs. If you haven’t checked out the Country Chic Cottage before, you’ll find tons of helpful Cricut tutorials, as well as sublimation tutorials and tons of easy crafts. Her YouTube channel is also incredibly helpful if you like learning via video.

We’ve partnered with Heat Transfer Warehouse for this post—grab all the supplies you need to make this project in a bundle! They also have a HUGE selection of materials and blanks. The canvas bags we used are super high quality—your kids will be able to use the trick-or-treat bags for years to come!

Angie and I joined together to create a video tutorial for these bags. Check it out here!

Supplies for DIY Trick or Treat Bags

Supplies needed: Cricut, tote bag, Easypress Mat, EasyPress, blue Cricut mat, white iron on, and weeding tool.

How to Make DIY Trick or Treat Bags

Set Up the File in Design Space

To start, upload the socks file to Cricut Design Space (see Uploading SVG Files to Cricut Design Space if you need help).

There are six projects for you to choose from. For this post, I’m making the ghost. If you want to make one of the designs with multiple colors, read more about How to Layer Iron On Vinyl.

If needed, select the layers and click Attach so they cut together. Resize the image to fit on your bag. That’s it!

Click Make It in the Upper Right.

If you have a newer Cricut Maker 3 or Cricut Explore 3, you’ll see a window asking how you want to load your material. I am cutting mine using Siser EasyWeed, so I chose On Mat. If you are cutting with Cricut Smart Iron On, you can choose Without Mat. If you have an older machine, you won’t see this screen.

In the Prepare Screen, click the “mirror” slider. This will ensure that the image faces the correct direction when ironed onto the bag.

Then click continue.

Cut Your Iron On Vinyl

On the Make Screen, you’ll set your material to iron on. Make sure you have your fine point blade in your machine, insert your mat, and your Cricut will cut your project!

Weed Your Iron On Vinyl

Next we’re going to “weed” the negative space from around our image. I have an extensive post about Weeding Iron On Vinyl, which you’ll want to read—tons of tips and tricks to making it easier.

Adhere Your Iron On Vinyl

Now we are going to adhere our iron on vinyl to the bag. Start by placing your pressing mat inside your bag.

Place your image onto the bag, centering it.

Use your EasyPress or iron to adhere the iron on vinyl to the bag. Learn more about Using Iron On Vinyl.

Carefully peel back the carrier sheet, making sure the iron on vinyl is adhered.

Cover with a piece of cotton or a pressing sheet and press for another 15 seconds. Then press from the back for an additional 15 seconds. This will ensure your image is well-adhered to the bag.

If you have more layers, continue to apply them in the same manner. Read my post How to Layer Iron On Vinyl for more tips and tricks!

And that’s it! You have the cutest DIY trick or treat bag for all of your little ghosties to carry this Halloween on their neighborhood hunt for candy!

Halloween can be such a fun, magical day, especially with little ones! However, many of us know that magic wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for the magic makers. Use the Magic Maker SVG to create a shirt, or even a mug to show that appreciation for the makers of magic in your life!

The It’s a Magical Life cut file would make a whimsical addition to home decor. It would be the perfect gift for newlyweds! Maybe even personalize a wooden sign with their anniversary date and name(s).
