It may be the beginning of April, but summer is just around the corner. If you’re from a warmer part of the world, you may already be feeling those summer temperatures!

(Of course, up here in the PNW, summer seems like it’s never going to show up—it’s gray and dreary this morning!)

Today I’ve joined up with some of my best blogging friends to bring you a bunch of totally free summer-themed printables! I’ve designed this fun printable summer word scramble. I always find these a lot more challenging than I expect! This scramble has sixteen summer-related words for you to unscramble. And if you get stuck, I’ve included an answer key!

This free printable game is a fun summer activity for older kiddos and adults—younger kiddos may have trouble with the answers! Break out this word puzzle on a particularly hot day, or bring some copies on a road trip.

It’s also good for an end-of-the-school-year classroom game for upper grades, when kids are so ready for summer vacation!

I grew up going camping with our family. I’ve tent camped, tent-trailer camped, and 5th-wheel camped. I swear I’ve been to half the campgrounds in the American southwest!

I have so many fond memories of setting up the campsite, hiking with my family, playing cribbage with my dad at the picnic table, and making s’mores around the campfire at night. We played in the forest and swam in the lake. We got incredibly dirty, which is one of the best parts of being a kid!

Now that our boys are a little older, we can’t wait to take them on a family camping trip!

We love to get outside as a family and get away from it all. But the idea of sleeping with two in a tent has been a bit much. We love camping though, and had a camp-themed birthday party for them one year and even had s’mores at our wedding instead of cake! The boys just turned 5, so camping will definitely be in our near future as a family!

Right now, most of our furniture is packed away for our move to Washington State. So Ryan was thinking about pitching a tent in the backyard and doing a mini camping trip with them right outside our house. I think it would be a good introduction to camping. And I bet they would get a kick out of snuggling up in a sleeping bag in a tent with dad by their side!

Free Printable Camping Scavenger Hunt

Headed on a camping trip with your littles? Print this free camping scavenger hunt to bring with you to your camping trip! This fun camping scavenger hunt has a list of dozens of items to find while you’re off camping. Cross off each scavenger hunt list item with a crayon or marker. Once they’ve found everything, you can hand out small prizes like tiny magnifying glasses or a little bug jar.

Have your kids look for things like pinecones, animal tracks, and firewood while you cook dinner or pitch the tent. There are also a ton of camping supplies on the list, like a flashlight, rope, and matches.

Your kids will be more aware of their surroundings doing this campground scavenger hunt. This is great for both younger kids and older children, though the littlest ones may need some supervision. They’ll find all sorts of camping goodies on this treasure hunt for all things camping-related!

Summer is in full swing here and despite the fact that temperatures are mind-meltingly hot, I’m actually really enjoying the summer months! Now that my boys are into boyhood, it’s fun to experience summer vacation again. We’re swimming in our little pool, playing in the sprinklers, going for early-morning bike rides, and taking day trips to cooler areas nearby.

I may not love the summer temperatures, but I do love fun summer activities with our whole family!

That being said, it’s often too warm (hot, blazing, Hades) to be outside. So while my boys are playing inside while we enjoy the air conditioner, I’ve tried to get off my phone and computer screen and read books and do pen-and-paper puzzles. Word searches are always a fave of mine. They help with memory retention, vocabulary, and even fine motor skills for kids when they circle the hidden words.

Word searches are perfect for a hot day, road trip, lazy day by the ocean, summer camps, or even a rainy day if you’re somewhere that’s not seeing the temps like we are. They’re a fun way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon!

In the spirit of summer activities, I have a fun-filled summer puzzle for you! It’s a great way to take a moment at home when you need to cool off, or to help keep the kids occupied on long car rides to the beach. Twenty-four summer words are hidden in the grid, forward, backward, and diagonally, with the word bank at the bottom. From flamingo to ice cream, lifeguard to watermelon, this easy summer word search is packed with summer-themed words! It’s lots of fun!

Print out the fun printable summer word search PDF file on high-quality paper and get finding the summer-related words! This fun activity includes an answer key as well, just in case you get stuck. Some words include LIFEGUARD, OCEAN, FLIP FLOPS, PICNIC, and more!

I think this free download is a lot of fun for kids of all ages (at least elementary school or older kids), adults, and even as a great activity for classroom use (what a great last-day-of-school idea!). Or, on the first day of summer break, you could print out a stack and make it a timed race to see which family member can finish the puzzle first! What do you know about the 4th of July in the United States of America? This printable 4th of July trivia game gives you 20 patriotic fun facts! Some things you might know (What is America’s national anthem?) and some are much harder (What president was born on the Fourth of July?).

You’re sure to have a ton of fun and learn something new answering these 4th of July trivia questions with your significant other, coworkers, family members, and friends as you celebrate Independence Day! It’s the perfect game to play while waiting for night to fall so the fireworks celebration can start!

Print out a set for a July 4th barbecue and turn them into a drinking game while you barbecue hot dogs and burgers, with a side of apple pie! The perfect way to enjoy a lazy day in the sun being thankful for our freedom, or a perfect boredom buster as you wait for your neighborhood parade to start.

I usually just put our Easter baskets out on our kitchen table and let the boys see them in the morning, but this year I thought it would be fun to send them on an Easter scavenger hunt around the house to find their baskets! Of course they’ll be wearing Easter egg hunt shirts, too!

This is basically like a treasure hunt. Following the directions below, print out the six clue cards to send your kids on the hunt! One clue leads to the next clue and is perfect for both older kids and younger kids (with reading help!). They’ll be so excited to find their Easter baskets by the front door full of fun prizes, plastic Easter eggs, candy, treats, goodies, and more!
